It’s the biggest North London Derby for over 20 years! Spurs are on the title charge for the first time in decades, and with City, Chelsea and United all faltering this season, Gunners’ fans will be steaming if they can’t take advantage of the opportunity to win their first title in 12 years. The #WengerOut campaign will be out for his head if they lose this one!
In recent years, February and March have been bogey months for Arsenal, crashing out of the Champions League (we aren’t giving them any hope of a Nou Camp turn around!), and pressing the self destruct button in the EPL once again. The 3-2 reverse to an injury depleted United and embarrassing, tepid home loss against struggling Swansea City have got Wenger and Arsenal on the ropes. This weekends fixture against their fiercest rivals could either be the worst or best time for them. Will they come back fighting or will Spurs hand them a knockout blow?
Spurs on the other hand have been a fresh of breath air this season, with Pochettino showing faith with a youthful, promising English spine of Kane, Alli, Dier et al. Add a little sprinkle of Eriksen flair, Lamela trickery, a solid back four and world class keeper and Spurs look like a tasty dish that could go all the way to their first top flight title in 56 years. The defeat suffered against the impressive West Ham mid week was a temporary blip, but that can be expected given the heavy fixture list and fatigue.
As with any hatred filled derby, form goes out of the window and we’ll surely see a fast, high quality game filled with passion, excitement and fervour! We should expect some goals too..10 out of the last 12 North London Derbies have hit BTTS!
