Less than a week after our football tipsters landed a 28/1 Finals accumulator, our darts tipster has followed up with an 8/1 winner at the World Cup of Darts.

Here’s how it went down:

The format of this round of the tournament sees each player compete in a best of 7 legs singles match, with a best of 7 legs doubles match if the game is tied at one match all. The first match of our treble saw our selection New Zealand take on South Africa. The match got off to a great start as Cody Harris whitewashed Vernon Bouwers in a game that sometimes lacked quality. It was the complete opposite result in game two as New Zealander Haupai Puha was whitewashed himself by Devon Petersen. The deciding doubles match saw the Kiwis get out of the blocks in style, winning the first three legs, two against the throw. South Africa staged a mini comeback winning the next two legs, but New Zealand held their cool despite missing 13 darts at a double.

Our next match saw Japan come up against Singapore. Japan only just scraped past Gibraltar in their first match, but their performances on the Asian Tour were much better than that. Seigo Asada got the tie underway for the Japanese against the legend Paul Lim. Asada had beaten Lim 5-0 in their most recent meetings, and although this was far closer Asada’s better scoring helped him to a 4-3 victory. Haruki Muramatsu was up next for the Japanese against Harith Lim, and another steady performance from the man from Japan saw him get over the line 4-2.

The final selection in our treble was the most riskiest, as we needed Canada to see off an experienced Australia. Neither Simon Whitlock or Kyle Anderson have been anywhere near their best so far this season, and we thought Canada could spring a surprise. Both of the singles matches were close affairs and at 3-2 down Whitlock looked to have the beating of Dawson Murschell. But ‘Awesome’ Dawson finished the match the stronger, and 14 and 15 dart legs saw him edge out the ‘Wizard’. Jim Long was up next for Canada against Kyle Anderson, and in a similar scenario to the first match Long looked to be heading to defeat at 3-1 down. However the Canadian never gave up and strung three straight legs together to complete another shock at this years World Cup and land an 8/1 treble for our followers.
