Thiago played a key role in Brentford’s success last season, scoring 22 Premier League goals to help the Bees mount a push for Europe. That form earned the striker a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad, and he should hit the ground running in this campaign.
Thiago bagged a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt in a recent friendly, and he scored 13 of his Premier League goals across 19 home appearances last season.
Kevin Schade 1+ shots on target including woodwork
While Thiago received most of the plaudits last season, Schade was another key talent for Brentford. The winger averaged 1.6 shots per game in the league last season, and he hit the target with 42% of his efforts on goal.
Tottenham’s defensive struggles last season won’t be solved overnight, and Schade’s speed should cause problems for Spurs. The winger recorded 12 shots on target in 17 home games for the Bees last season, and he can threaten this weekend.
Mamadou Sangare to commit 2+ fouls
Summer signing Sangare is expected to be a major midfield upgrade for Brentford, after helping Lens finish second in Ligue 1 and win the French Cup.
The bookies are already guarding against him in terms of his tackling success rate, but he’s well-priced in the foul markets. The midfielder should be a key physical presence against a Spurs side who will look to play through midfield under Roberto De Zerbi, and Sangare recorded two or more fouls on 16 occasions last term.
Mateus Fernandes to be carded
Fernandes is part of Tottenham’s pricey midfield overhaul this summer, despite the Portuguese being relegated in back-to-back Premier League campaigns. He has been shown 16 bookings across his two seasons in England for Southampton and West Ham, and he looks good for another caution on Saturday.
