Vinicius Jr to make an assist
Chelsea were terrorised by Vini Jr in their first-leg loss in the Spanish capital and the Brazilian should cause huge problems as the Blues push forward in search of a route back into this game.
Vini Jr has 10 goals and 10 assists in the Champions League since the start of last season and no player in the competition has more assists than him this term.
The winger has had a hand in five goals across his last four games and he’s a great bet to make an assist having created a goal in all three meetings with Chelsea dating back to last season’s quarter-finals.
Bayern Munich vs Man City
Leroy Sane to make an assist
While all eyes were on Joao Cancelo’s return to the Etihad, Sane had a fine game in his return to his former club. The winger had a hand in eight of the 12 shots Bayern had in that clash.
Sane has more combined goals and assists (17) than any Bayern player in the Champions League since the start of last season. He’s created one goal in this season’s competition, but he’s recorded a minimum of two assists in Europe’s top tournament in every year bar one since 2016/17.
With Bayern looking for a big display to get back in this tie, expect them to lean on Sane after his Etihad display and his assist in the big win over Borussia Dortmund.
Inter Milan vs Benfica
Alessandro Bastoni to make an assist
It’s hard to imagine an up-and-coming Italian defender being described as something out of the Sheffield United mould, but Bastoni’s displays for Inter Milan bring the Blades’ adventurous centre-halves to mind.
Chris Wilder’s Blades brought the wide centre-half position to the forefront in the Premier League, using players from their back three to rampage forward into the space between the opposition full-back and central defenders. Bastoni is producing the same impact in the Champions League this term, popping up with three assists from the left side of a back three.
Bastoni’s crosses from deep happen more frequently in Europe, he averages almost three times more per game in the Champions League than in Serie A. He’s made five assists for the club this term and put in a brilliant cross against Benfica last week which was converted by Nicolo Barella.
Back Bastoni to stride out of defence and create another goal in this clash, as he’s a massive 11/1 to continue his creative form from central defence.
