The Blues coasted to a 2-0 win over the unimaginative Magpies thanks to first half efforts from Olivier Giroud and Timo Werner, and though they huffed and puffed in the second period, Chelsea were unable to pad out the scoreline in London………..much to our relief.
In Portugal, league leaders Sporting showed their more clinical side in a smash and grab win at home to a possession hungry Pacos Ferreira outfit.
