Gigantic 6,785/1 each-way treble for this week's golf events

There are three golf tournaments taking place this week, the first of which begins in the early hours of Thursday morning, as there are events on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf to look forward to.

We’ve called on Racing Post expert Steve Palmer for his tips for all three events and he has obliged with his massive 6,875/1 winners treble, which as always he recommends backing as an each-way bet.

Golf punters who enjoy outright multiples may fancy an each-way treble this week, with LIV Golf Mayakoba competing with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour action.

The best golf bet of the week is arguably found in the LIV event, where Joaquin Niemann seems a fantastic wager to upset Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith and the rest of the 48-man field at El Camaleon Golf Club.

Johnson is returning from a back injury and has never teed up at El Camaleon before, while Smith has been unimpressive in recent outings and has flopped in both his previous visits to the track.

Niemann, in contrast, was fifth the last time he tackled this terrain – in the 2021 World Wide Technology Championship – and he has looked good this year as tenth place in the Saudi International was followed by fifth spot in an Asian Tour event in Oman.

Niemann at 8/1 can be put with Shubhankar Sharma, who is 25/1 for the Indian Open, and Adam Svensson, who is 28/1 for the Honda Classic. The Niemann, Sharma, Svensson treble pays 6,785/1 at those prices.

Sharma and Svensson can both draw on local knowledge in their respective events.

The DLF Country Club venue used to be the practice base of Sharma and he is in good enough form to take advantage, having finished third in the Nedbank Challenge in November, followed by seventh in the Abu Dhabi Championship. Sharma is the course-record holder at the DLF (64) and finished seventh in the 2018 Indian Open there.

Svensson has a similar comfort level at the Honda venue – PGA National – where he won a Qualifying School event by seven shots in 2015. He was ninth in the Honda last year and finished ninth in the Genesis Invitational on Sunday.
