Max Verstappen racked up a sixth consecutive Grand Prix win at Silverstone and, after a weekend off, he is once again huge favourite to continue his streak in Hungary.

Red Bull have brought new upgrades to their dominant car, with Aston Martin also making changes to their car and both McLaren and Mercedes hoping to build on the success of their already-upgraded packages.

Hungarian Grand Prix track guide

Debut season – 1986

Number of turns – 14

Most wins – Lewis Hamilton (8)

Most poles – Michael Schumacher & Lewis Hamilton (7)

2022 winner – Max Verstappen

The Hungaroring, situated just 12 miles outside the capital city of Budapest, has a reputation for dull races, with the tight nature of the track making it difficult to overtake.

That has improved over the last few years, though, with Esteban Ocon shocking the field with a maiden Formula One victory in 2021 before Max Verstappen came from tenth on the grid to win last year.

Hungarian Grand Prix predictions

Lewis Hamilton to finish on the podium at 6/5

Lewis Hamilton is the Hungarian Grand Prix’s most successful driver and he can take advantage of his competitors’ woes by taking a fourth podium in five races this weekend.

Sergio Perez suffered another dismal session as he crashed out of FP1, destroying a car full of new Red Bull upgrades in the process. After a torrid run of form, this latest setback could damage the Mexican’s confidence further and another difficult weekend could be in store.

Ferrari looked poor at Silverstone and, while McLaren made a huge stride forward, Zak Brown has already tempered expectations by saying they aren’t expecting to be as competitive at the Hungaroring.

Hamilton has had the beating of George Russell since Mercedes introduced their upgrades and he can claim another top three spot on Sunday.

Verstappen to win, Alonso podium & Norris points at 5/2

Max Verstappen is justified favourite to win the Hungarian Grand Prix after five successive race wins and he could be rejoined on the podium by Fernando Alonso.

The Aston Martin team have brought upgrades to the Hungaroring and Alonso has been in fine form this season, despite his advancing years. He has six podiums from ten races and will be hoping the new upgrades put him back in contention at a track he has claimed four podiums at.

Lando Norris should be well placed to win points for the sixth time this season, too. The Brit enjoyed the McLaren’s upgraded package at Silverstone, following on from a fourth-place finish in Austria to come second at his home Grand Prix. Even with Zak Brown downplaying their chances, the papaya cars will be aiming for solid points on Sunday.
