The first opportunity of the year to have an each-way double on the golf comes this week, with the Abu Dhabi Championship being staged by the DP World Tour and The American Express boasting a high-class line-up on the PGA Tour.
Once again Racing Post golf tipster Steve Palmer has picked out his standout bets from each event, which combine for a huge 2575/1 bet! As always, an each-way bet is the recommended way to go, while you can find an even bigger price by backing Steve’s 59,849/1 golf majors acca!
2575/1 Abu Dhabi & American Express Open double
Pairing two golfers is a wager that can reap rich reward for low stakes – and the return can be healthy even if both of your selections just place from an each-way double. Some firms are offering eight places on the Abu Dhabi Championship this week and there are even ten places on offer with certain layers for The American Express.
Punters are advised to narrow their attack down to Nicolai Hojgaard in the Abu Dhabi Championship and Cameron Davis in The American Express. Hojgaard and Davis, who can be backed individually at 55/1 and 45/1, can be put together in a 2,575/1 double. The places alone pay 180/1 at a quarter the odds.
Hojgaard is deep in the Abu Dhabi betting, despite starring last week in the Hero Cup, which was also played in Abu Dhabi. The Danish dude has made the short journey to Yas Links with his confidence sky-high. He tied for top-scorer in the Hero Cup, with three and a half points, and is thrilled to be back in the desert. Hojgaard’s last DP World Tour victory came in the United Arab Emirates in the Ras al Khaimah Championship.
Davis, like Hojgaard, appears to be getting better every season. Davis won his maiden PGA Tour title in 2021, then followed up with a solid Presidents Cup debut last year. The Australian closed with a 64 for third place in The American Express the last time he teed up in the event. He has grown in stature since and may upset the bigger names this weekend.
