Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.
With the FA Cup semi-finals to come this weekend, we’ve got some Premier League games moved into midweek. They are part of an interesting schedule over the next few days, which also includes cup clashes in Europe.
I’ve taken a look at this week’s fixture list to pick out 10 bets from the days ahead. You can see each selection below, while you can also back the 10-fold accumulator at a huge 3,800/1!

Both teams to score in Real Madrid vs Alaves
After dropping points in their last two La Liga games, Real Madrid have allowed Barcelona to move nine points clear at the top. The Spanish giants head into the midweek fixtures following a Champions League exit to Bayern Munich, and Tuesday’s clash with Alaves won’t be a walkover.
Alaves narrowly outside the drop zone, but they’re unbeaten in four thanks to some great form in front of goal. The strugglers have netted seven goals across visits to Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo in their last two trips, and they’ve scored in seven of their previous eight La Liga matches.
Real have kept one clean sheet in 12, and they’ve conceded a goal in eight straight league matches.
Lens to win and BTTS vs Toulouse
Toulouse were beaten 3-2 by Lens on Friday night, and they are set for another loss to a top side in Tuesday’s French Cup semi-final.
Toulouse have been beaten home and away by each of the top three in Ligue 1, losing to each of those sides across their last three matches. They’ve conceded 10 goals in that stretch, and their defence should struggle at a Lens side that has won 13 of 15 home league games this season.
However, Toulouse pose a threat going forward. They rank ninth for Expected Goals in Ligue 1 this term, slightly overperforming their 39.3 xG tally. Lens have made the last four in high-scoring fashion, netting 12 goals across the previous four rounds, while keeping only one clean sheet.
Manchester City -2 at Burnley
Manchester City won the first meeting between these sides 5-1, and Pep Guardiola’s side head to Turf Moor in fantastic form.
With goal difference now set to be the deciding factor in the title race, this looks like a huge opportunity for the Citizens to boost their tally. Burnley have picked up the fewest points in the Premier League since Halloween, and the Clarets have lost five of their last six while conceding 15 times.
Barcelona to win and BTTS vs Celta Vigo
The Spanish title is the only trophy Barcelona can win this term, and they’ve put themselves in a commanding position with seven straight league wins. The Catalans have celebrated their return to the Nou Camp with 16 wins from 16 home games this term. They’re expected to complete a double over Celta Vigo, following a 4-2 away win in November.
Celta have suffered four defeats in five across all competitions, but they’ve scored in 13 of their 15 league trips. Barca’s adventurous style has led to them conceding in seven of their last eight games, and they’ve conceded in 14 of their 26 league wins this term.
Levante to beat Sevilla
Sevilla’s win over Atletico Madrid ended a three-game losing streak, but they remain only two points above the drop zone. Thursday’s clash is a key game for Levante, who are four points shy of safety.
However, the hosts have won all three of their home meetings with the bottom six this season. They were also 3-0 winners in their visit to Sevilla earlier this season, while Luis Garcia’s side lost 1-0 at bottom side Real Oviedo in their last away trip.
Stuttgart to win to nil vs Freiburg
Two of the Bundesliga’s European contenders face off in the semi-finals of the German Cup, and home advantage could prove crucial for Stuttgart.
Stuttgart’s two home defeats have come against Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, winning 11 of 13 matches outside of that. They’ve conceded just 14 goals, half of which came in those two defeats.
Visitors Freiburg have lost all of their six visits to the Bundesliga’s top eight, failing to score in five of those, including a 1-0 loss at Stuttgart.
RB Leipzig -1 vs Union Berlin
RB Leipzig have strengthened their grip on a Champions League spot with six wins from seven, moving five points ahead of fifth. They can move even further clear, as they meet struggling Union Berlin in the opening Bundesliga match of the weekend.
The visitors have lost five of their last seven, and nine of their 14 defeats this term have come by a two-goal margin or greater. Seven of Leipzig’s 10 home wins have been by two goals or more, so back them to continue their fine run with a routine win.
Manchester City to win and BTTS vs Southampton
Southampton have been in brilliant form since the FA Cup third round, scoring in every game since their 3-2 win over Doncaster. Their impressive display against Arsenal in the last round suggests they can trouble Manchester City this weekend, while the Saints were beaten 2-1 at Anfield in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
City have hit top gear in recent weeks, and they are worthy favourites to make it to the FA Cup final for the fourth season running. However, the Saints have proven capable of causing problems going forward, so back them to score in a defeat.
Both teams to score in Genoa vs Como
Daniele De Rossi has made Genoa into a more open side, and his side have scored at least twice in six of their last seven home games, and they should trouble Como this weekend.
However, Cesc Fabregas has made Como into one of Serie A’s most progressive sides. His team have netted 15 goals across their visits to teams in the bottom half, but they’ve lost 4-3 to Inter and 2-1 to Sassuolo in their last two league games.
Leeds double chance vs Chelsea
Chelsea’s loss to Manchester United was their sixth defeat in seven, and the Blues have failed to score in five of their last six.
Leeds have had the Blues’ number this season, beating them 3-1 at Elland Road, before fighting back from 2-0 down to draw at Stamford Bridge. Daniel Farke’s side have reached the FA Cup semis by going to penalties in two of their four ties, so back them to win or draw against this struggling Chelsea outfit.
