Warren Ashurst
Mexico vs South Korea – Mexico at 1/1 with bet365
The co-hosts looked impressive in their opening game win over South Africa and they now face a South Korea team that are also looking for consecutive victories.
Mexico will move from the Azteca to the Estadio Guadalajara, but the home support will be as vociferous as ever and they will look to extend their unbeaten run over their opponents to five matches.
South Korea dominated possession against a set-piece reliant Czech team and they will not see as much of the ball against a Mexican team full of energy and attacking threat.
Enda McElhinney
Turkey vs Paraguay – Turkey at 1/1 with bet365
Turkey’s opening loss to Australia was a bit of a misnomer as they had 72 per cent possession, won the xG battle with 1.36 and had 30 shots at goal with eight on target as well as more corners (8-5) compared to the Socceroos.
The Aussie netminder made eight saves, including a couple of very good ones, while Abdulkerim Bardakci smashed a shot against the post in the first half and Kerem Akturkoglu fired straight at Patrick Beach with the goal at his mercy in the second half.
Paraguay were 4-1 losers against the USA, trailing 3-0 at the interval in a stroll for the co-hosts, and Turkey should rebound with victory in Santa Clara.
Alex Wrigley
Argentina vs Austria – Lionel Messi to score at 10/11 with bet365
A sensational hat-trick took Lionel Messi level with Miroslav Klose at the top of the all-time goalscoring charts in World Cup competition, and the 38-year-old can take the record for himself against Austria.
His final goal in that game took his tally to 120 for Argentina, and he has scored nine goals in his last seven games for club and country. Despite his 16-goal tally at the World Cup, he has never won the Golden Boot, and he will be looking to end that as La Celeste’s title defence continues in Texas.
Dan Childs
Netherlands vs Sweden – Sweden at 15/4 with bet365
Sweden got off to a great start with their 5-1 victory over Tunisia and they look overpriced to defeat the Netherlands in Group F.
Qualifying was a far from smooth process for the Swedes, who were missing a lot of injured players.
But they made it through the playoffs and may be ready to do some damage thanks to a front two of Alexander Isak and Victor Gyokeres, which looks capable of causing problems for any defence.
The Netherlands looked too open in their 2-2 draw with Japan and they could be on the wrong end of a shock defeat.
Aidan Perkins
USA vs Australia – Both teams to score – Yes at 1/1 with bet365
USA were very good when seeing off Paraguay comfortably 4-1 in their opener and I expect them to make it two from two against Australia, who were somewhat fortunate in their 2-0 win over Turkey.
The Socceroos should get on the scoresheet, though, and backing BTTS may be the value pick in this Group D clash. The States have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight games, while Australia have only failed to find the back of the net in two of their last 16.
Gareth Freeman
Tunisia vs Japan – Japan -1 at 6/4 with bet365
To say Tunisia are a team in disarray is an understatement after they were crushed 5-1 by Sweden in their opener. That defeat cost Sabri Lamouchi his job as manager and Herve Renard has been brought in for the remainder of the tournament, but he may not have enough time to make any real impact.
In contrast, Japan looked excellent at stages in their 2-2 draw with the Netherlands and a win over the north Africans would all-but secure a place in the knockout stages. They should be able to see off the Eagles of Carthage and they can cover a -1 handicap against a side who have shipped 10 goals in just two games and have scored just once across their last four.
