Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

At least four goals have been scored in three of Milan’s last seven league games, including two 3-3 draws while Cagliari drew 2-2 with Inter on their last visit to Milan in April. Additionally, at least four goals have been scored in three of the last four meetings of the clubs.

AC Milan 3-1

Reason for tip

Milan have been hard to trust of late, but they could come good against a Cagliari side that has struggled on the road all season, losing 11 of their last 16 away Serie A games. The visitors conceded three at Genoa late last month and could do so again when they meet a Milan side fresh off a 3-3 draw with the same opponent. But Cagliari did not give in when they came from 1-0 and 2-1 down to claim a draw at Inter recently and can nick a goal in a 3-1 loss.

AC Milan vs Cagliari Predictions

  • At least four goals have been scored in three of Milan’s last seven league games, including two 3-3 draws
  • Cagliari drew 2-2 with Inter on their last visit to Milan in April
  • At least four goals have been scored in three of the last four meetings of the clubs

Trend for goals should continue

There is a trend for goals when AC Milan have met Cagliari recently and that pattern could continue on Saturday evening at the San Siro. The Rossoneri have won both previous encounters with Claudio Ranieri’s side this season, 3-1 in Sardinia and 4-1 in the sides’ Coppa Italia clash back in January.

But Stefano Pioli’s side are not in the same sort of shape now as they were then with club officials actively looking to replace the coach and several big names due to depart this summer.

Their form has fallen off a cliff since they crashed out of the Europa League to Roma and there seems little point in supporting the hosts at around 2/5 for a relatively meaningless three points.

Cagliari can’t take any chances with remaining games

Cagliari, who fought hard to claim a 2-2 draw against Inter on their last visit to San Siro, are still scrapping for survival. Gli Isolani are three points clear of the drop zone with three games to go – one of which is away at against relegation rivals Sassuolo.

Ranieri’s team will not want to go into that penultimate clash of the campaign needing to win, so they should target a point or more from this fixture.

That said, backing goals could be the best play in the book for this clash as both sides have been involved in their fair share of open games of late. Two of Milan’s last five games have finished 3-3 while the recent memory of Cagliari’s 2-2 draw with the Nerazurri leads us to recommend over 3.5 goals as the main bet here.
