AC Milan vs Inter Milan Predictions

There’s no doubt about which of this weekend’s Serie A matches is the biggest. It’s clearly Sunday night’s Milan derby, which should be a really interesting game. There is renewed hope for AC Milan this season following their impressive start to the campaign. As things stand, they’re on course for a place in the Champions League next year.

Meanwhile, their city rivals are currently in the middle of a season-long crisis. They’re already onto their third full-time manager of the season. They appointed Stefano Pioli as their new coach during the international break. The former Lazio boss is seen as a safe pair of hands to give the club some stability. Will he be able to pick up the pieces left by Frank De Boer? He certainly faces a baptism of fire in his opening game.

This isn’t just a tough opener because of the size of the game, it’s an incredibly tough fixture when you consider AC’s form. The home side have won all but two of their last nine, while they’ve won five out of six at the San Siro so far this season. They’ve managed to win four straight here, three of those victories came to nil. They managed to see off Juventus at home already, can they add a derby success to that strong record? It would certainly boost their hopes of a top three finish.

Inter take an awful away record into this match. They’ve lost five straight games, while they’ve lost 67% of matches on their travels this term. They’re sitting in 9th in the Serie A table, a long way from their original aim of Champions League football. While this isn’t exactly an away trip for Inter, it’s still a match they’ll struggle with.

AC have a brilliant record at the San Siro this term. They’ve been relying on their form here to continue their push for a top three spot. Vincenzo Montella’s side have taken 60% of their points this term at home, while they’ve scored 58% of their goals here, and conceded just 40% of their total at the San Siro. That’s a record which Inter will have a tough time beating.

While Inter will have a new man at the helm, their summer business and last couple of months have left a real mess behind. Milan, on the other hand, have built a squad with some young talents forming a key part of the side. They’ve been fantastic this year to get them close to the top, and we’re backing more of the same here. We’re backing AC to take the points, which is very well priced at 13/8 with bet365.
