AC Milan To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Milan won 12 of their 19 home league games last season, conceding just 12 goals in the process – the best such record in Serie A. Udinese, meanwhile, are winless in their last six trips to San Siro to face the Rossoneri.

AC Milan 2-0

Reason for tip

Milan’s record of just 31 league goals conceded last term was the joint-best in Serie A, and they kept nine clean sheets in their final 11 matches of the season. Meanwhile, Stefano Pioli’s team have strengthened by adding Divock Origi and Charles De Ketelaere in the off-season.

Charles De Ketelaere To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

The Belgian wonderkid scored 18 goals for Club Brugge last season to earn his big-money move to Italy, and should trouble a visiting side which shipped 58 league goals last campaign.

AC Milan vs Udinese Predictions

  • AC Milan kept nine clean sheets in their final 11 Serie A games last season as they won the Scudetto.
  • The Rossoneri won 12 of their 19 home league matches last season, conceding just 12 goals on their own turf.
  • Milan last suffered a league defeat in January, going unbeaten in 16 subsequent contests.

Champions set to kick off in positive fashion

Having ended an 11-year wait to win Serie A in terrific fashion last season, Stefano Pioli’s Milan look set to face stern challenges from the likes of Juventus, Inter and Roma this time around. However, having ended last campaign with nine clean sheets in their final 11 league matches, the Rossoneri will be able to rely on a solid rearguard in their bid for consecutive titles.

Indeed, Milan boasted the joint-best defensive record in Serie A last season (alongside Napoli, conceding 31 goals), and only shipped 12 in 19 league outings at San Siro, where they picked up 12 victories. Having held onto their key defenders and added attacking firepower in new recruits Divock Origi and Charles De Ketelaere, the champions will be confident of starting with a victory.

Udinese ended an inconsistent campaign in 12th last term, but despite winning five of their last 10 matches in a positive end to the season, parted company with interim boss Gabriele Cioffi and brought in in Andrea Sottil. His first competitive game saw the Zebrette edge past lower-league side Feralpisalo 2-1, and his former side Ascoli had the third-worst attack among Serie B’s top 10 teams last term.

Solid Rossoneri to start with shutout

Given Milan’s imperious defensive form last season, which drove them to the Scudetto despite a fierce challenge from Inter, backing the hosts to begin 2022-23 by beating Udinese to nil looks prudent.

Meanwhile, a 2-0 Rossoneri win could offer correct score value and De Ketelaere, who scored 18 times for Club Brugge last season, could be a decent punt for a debut goal.
