Adelaide United vs Perth Glory Predictions

Adelaide United’s reign as champions of Australia is almost over, but despite their horrendous season they look like they are planning to end it on a high. Their 3-2 win at Central Coast Mariners last weekend makes it four games unbeaten and two wins on the bounce. This is the first time they have won consecutive games since the final two matches of last season, with those wins seeing them lift the Hyundai A-League Championship.

Circumstances are a bit different this time round. The hosts sit rock bottom of the A-League with just 20 points from their 24 games. There are just three games left in the regular season, and with the last of the playoff spots 11 points above them, their hopes of making the championship round are over.

Their future in the Asian Champions League is looking bleak too. They have just one point from their three group games so far and lie at the bottom of the table, but they will be hoping to end the season strongly and then start a rebuilding job over off-season.

Perth Glory are close to wrapping up their spot in the top six, but they’re not quite there yet. They lost 3-0 at home to confirmed Hyundai A-League Premiership champions Sydney FC last time round, with that following on from a 4-1 defeat at Melbourne Victory.

They currently lie 5th in the table, six points inside the playoff zone with just nine points left to play for. A victory here could all but tie up a position in the Championship round, but defeat would put them under a lot of pressure in the final two games should the teams below them win their games.

Perth Glory may have lost two games in a row, but in fairness they were against the top two sides in the league. Prior to that they had won three and drawn two in their last five. Away from home they struggle though, with just two wins all season, five draws, and five defeats.

They have found the net in all but two of these 12 away games, but they have only kept one clean sheet on the road all season. This will come as good news to Babacar Diawara, who has netted four goals in his last three games for Adelaide United and looks in fine form. Backing him to score anytime at 13/10 looks the best value here, so I’m going for that alongside a 2-2 correct score predictions at 17/2.
