Visitors filled with Terror on the road

After relegation from the Premiership last season, Dundee United would have been hoping to banish those demons with a strong start to 2023/24, but instead they have lost two of their opening three games in the Scottish League Cup.

The Terrors did win their most recent fixture at home to Peterhead, but prior to that they were beaten on their own patch by Partick Thistle and on the road at fourth-tier Spartans.

It is the defeat to Spartans that particularly stands out, with Jim Goodwin’s side having now won one and lost eight of their last 11 away matches – another defeat could well follow at the Falkirk Community Stadium this midweek.

Falkirk solid on home soil

Falkirk are unbeaten in this season’s Scottish League Cup, winning at Spartans and then claiming a penalty shootout success at Partick.

The Bairns will be on home soil for the first time this season on Tuesday and they ended the last campaign having won the joint-most home matches of any team in Scottish League One.

That run included putting five past Peterhead and Queen of the South and scoring four against Clyde and, although they may not match those levels of scoring on Tuesday, John McGlynn’s side will fancy themselves to claim the victory.
