Bees look too strong for Cherries

Consistency has been Brentford’s downfall this season, as they have put in some top performances, such as their 4-0 win over Manchester United or their 5-2 victory over Leeds but have also flattered to deceive at times, falling 3-2 to Fulham and being comfortably beaten by Arsenal in the final game before the international break.

However their general level of performance this season has been much stronger than that of Bournemouth’s and they have a definite advantage in the recent head-to-heads, with the Bees winning four of the last five including the play-off semi-final that saw them beat the Cherries en route to promotion.

The class edge for Thomas Frank’s side may just tell.

Manager-less Bournemouth have improved

Three comprehensive defeats in a row to Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool saw Scott Parker depart as Bournemouth boss after just four games of the season but caretaker boss Gary O’Neil seems to be getting a better tune from the squad, picking up a pair of draws with Wolves and Newcastle either side of a comeback victory over fellow newly promoted side Nottingham Forest.

The Cherries came from 2-0 down to pick up a precious 3-2 win on that occasion and they have certainly improved since Parker’s departure, although they may still lack the quality to compete at the top level.

Toney to bolster World Cup claims

Ivan Toney was included in England’s squad for the first time during the recent international break, but the forward was not granted his debut by Gareth Southgate. However the 26-year-old is clearly in the national team manager’s thoughts and he can put himself further in the frame to play backup to Harry Kane with a goal in this encounter.

The Bees’ striker has netted five times in just seven games this season and is fancied to further his claims of ending up on the plane to Qatar with a goal on the south coast.
