Luton Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Luton can drag themselves out of the bottom three with a win at the Vitality Stadium and they are capable of getting something from their trip to the south coast, where their hosts Bournemouth have won just one of their last six home games

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Luton have gained their best results when they have been positive this season and they are unlikely to hole back against the Cherries, so we could be in for an entertaining encounter which could finish as a 2-2 draw just like Bournemouth’s game against Sheffield United at the weekend.

Dominic Solanke To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has not scored for three games, but he was unfortunate to miss a penalty and have another effort disallowed against Sheffield United on Saturday and can get back among the goals against the Hatters

AFC Bournemouth vs Luton Predictions

  • Bournemouth have won just one of their last six league games at the Vitality Stadium
  • Luton have scored in all but one of their last ten Premier League away matches
  • Seven of the Hatters’ last ten league games have featured at least four goals

Hatters should not be ruled out

This game has been rearranged from the abandonment in December when Luton skipper Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest, and Bournemouth are not quite in the same position as they were then.

The Cherries had a storming end to 2023 but they have struggled since the turn of the year, winning just one of their last nine matches following a strong run that catapulted them towards mid-table in the Premier League.

They struggled against bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United on Saturday, grabbing a late goal to earn a draw after falling two goals behind and they could find it difficult to arrest their slump against a Luton side who can be even more positive than the Blades.

Rob Edwards’s Hatters have failed to score in just one of their last ten away games and have been at their best when being positive, scaring some of the Premier League big guns in the process.

High-scoring clash looks likely

Just one win in their last six home league games is a concern for Cherries boss Andoni Iraola and a big prize would greet a Luton victory as they would get out of the bottom three, which would be a huge morale boost.

The Hatters grabbed a late Cauley Woodrow equaliser, which was enough to earn them a point at Crystal Palace on Saturday and being positive is their best chance of gaining something from a trip to a team who have kept just two clean sheets in their last ten league games at the Vitality.

There is a strong chance there could be plenty of goals and those looking for a correct-score selection may be tempted to support another 2-2 draw, just four days after Bournemouth’s similar scoreline against the Blades.

Solanke looks the chief Cherries threat

While Luton have a strong chance of getting something from their trip to the Vitality, it is no surprise that Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke is seen as the game’s most likely goalscorer.

The former Liverpool striker has enjoyed an excellent season and was unfortunate not to score against Sheffield United, putting a penalty over the bar after slipping while taking the kick and then having another effort disallowed.

He was on target in the original fixture before the abandonment and this looks a good chance for him to add to his tally after three blanks.
