Alaves to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Both of these sides are struggling for goals but home advantage may prove the difference as Alaves bid to get their automatic promotion bid back on track, so we’re backing the hosts to win a low-scoring affair.

Alaves 1-0

Reason for tip

The goals have dried up for the hosts but they have been solid at the back with four clean sheets in their last six at home. One goal may well be enough to win this game and Alaves can grind out a 1-0 win over Tenerife.

Alaves vs Tenerife Predictions

  • Alaves have lost only one of their 16 home league games
  • Tenerife have failed to win any of their last four away games
  • Alaves have kept clean sheets in five of their last six home matches

La Liga still in sight for Alaves

Alaves have not yet given up on securing automatic promotion from the Segunda Division and they can enhance their chances with three points at home to Tenerife.

Alaves were relegated from La Liga last season but they are going well in their bid to bounce back at the first time of asking as they sit fifth and only four points behind second-placed Granada.

Luis García’s side are in such a healthy position because of their remarkably strong form at the Mendizorrotza Stadium, which has seen them win ten, draw five and lose only one of their 16 home games.

Alaves may have been held to back-to-back goalless draws at home to Cartagena and bottom club Lugo, but they had beaten runaway leaders Eibar prior to that and if on a going day ought to have Tenerife’s measure.

The goals have dried up for the hosts – they have failed to score in four – and that enhances the prospects of a low-scoring contest.

However, Tenerife are having similar troubles in front of goal, especially away from home where they have won only two of their 16 league games and have scored just 12 times.

In fact, the mid-table visitors are winless in four away games and have failed to score in any of their last three, suggesting one goal may be enough for Alaves to land the spoils.
