Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton Predictions
- Tottenham are unbeaten in their last seven meetings with Everton
- Everton have failed to win any of their last 11 away games in the Premier League
- Dominic Solanke scored against Everton for former club Bournemouth last season
Spurs to learn from Monday’s mistakes
Tottenham started the new season in underwhelming fashion, as despite having more than 70% possession and double the amount of shots on target when compared to their hosts, they were still held to a 1-1 draw at newly promoted Leicester.
That will have left Ange Postecoglou and his players frustrated and they will be determined to learn from those mistakes against an Everton side that were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at home to Brighton in their season opener.
The Toffees could prove the ideal opponents for Tottenham, as they have failed to win any of the last seven meetings between the two sides, while Spurs have triumphed in each of the last three encounters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by an aggregate score of 9-1.
Goals should flow in north London
Everton’s away form in the second half of last season was poor, as they failed to win any of their final 11 road trips in the league, a run that started with December’s 2-1 loss at Spurs.
Conceding goals was a problem for Sean Dyche’s side on their travels, but they did score in four of their final five away games of 2023-24 and given they have netted in their last three clashes with Spurs, they will be hopeful of getting on the scoresheet on Saturday.
That may be as good as it gets for Everton though, with Spurs keen to showcase a ruthless streak that was lacking against Leicester and they may feel they can replicate the 2-1 scoreline from last season’s corresponding fixture.
Spurs have scored exactly two goals in three of their last four meetings with Everton, but have only kept one clean-sheet across those games, further underlining the likelihood of a home win with both teams finding the back of the net.
Solanke to break Spurs duck
Spurs’ new £65m signing Dominic Solanke failed to score on his first competitive appearance for the club against Leicester, but he did hit the target with all three of his shots and will be desperate to mark his home debut with a goal.
Solanke should retain his place in the starting XI for this game and he has fond recent memories of facing Everton, as he scored in Bournemouth’s 2-1 home success over the Toffees in March.
If Spurs can create as many chances as they did against Leicester then Solanke is a prime target to open his account for the club.
