Alaves have made a decent La Liga start

Alaves will be delighted to be second in the Spanish top flight even if it is only two weeks into the season, and they should be confident when they face Villarreal, who are still looking for their first win.

The home side claimed a 3-0 success the last time they were in action on their own patch against Getafe, even though they benefited from playing against ten men after the closing minutes of the first half.

They also played well at last season’s Conference League finalists Rayo Vallecano in a match where they were well on top but had to settle for a 1-1 draw, so there has been little evidence that they are about to slow down yet.

Villarreal still searching for a first win

Villarreal are more seasoned challengers at the top end of La Liga, but they head into Friday’s clash having posted two 2-2 draws against new boys Racing Santander and Atletico Madrid.

There have been at least four goals infour of their last five matches and that pattern looks set to be followed again as they continue their push to gain their first success of the season.

It could prove that there is little to separate the teams and it is worth taking a chance that, once again, the Yellow Submarine share four goals equally with their opponents.
