      Amiens vs Marseille Predictions

Marseille picked up their third straight draw last week as it finished 1-1 against Rennes. Marseille trailed at half-time before battling back for the point through Duje Ćaleta-Car’s goal. This has become a little bit of an unwanted trait recently as they had to battle back from behind against Montpellier (1-1) and Monaco (4-3). Their away form has been rather good recently though so they’ll be looking forward to this one.

Marseille are unbeaten in their last seven games with two wins and two draws in their last four away matches. Marseille also hold a very good record against Amiens with wins in each of the last four meetings. Marseille will have to be careful in this one though as they have a knack of slipping up against weaker teams. This season they have managed to beat Monaco, Nice and Saint-Étienne but they have also picked up poor results against Reims (0-2), Dijon (0-0) and Nantes (0-0).

Amiens may fancy themselves then, especially after the got an impressive point off high-flying Angers last week. They drew 1-1 away to les Scoïstes but really could have won it as they had the bulk of the chances. Amiens’ goal did come through a goalkeeper mistake but they did play well generally and will be looking to take that into this match.

Amiens impressed against Angers but they have generally been very poor going forward as they currently sit third bottom in terms of xG. They have been rather clinical with their chances though as they have scored nine goals after eight games, a great tally considering Amens scored 31 in their 38 league matches last season. Amiens’ home form may cost them here as they have won just one of their four home matches this season, scoring five and conceding seven in the process.

Marseille are second, being PSG, for chances created away from home this season and with Amiens not great at the Stade de la Licorne, we’re backing the visitors to win this one. Marseille have a great record against Amiens and have been generally impressive recently but with les Olympiens’ history of slipping up against smaller teams, we’re not backing a cricket score here. Amiens have scored in each of their last five home matches so we’re expecting them to convert against a Marseille side with poor xGA numbers on the road. We’re backing this one to finish 2-1 to Marseille.
