Angers can get back on the winning trail

Angers are without a win in four but they can return to winning ways when they welcome an out-of-sorts Lorient.

The visitors are going through a tough period and are winless in six Ligue 1 games, losing three of their last four.

Their last away game resulted in a 4-0 defeat at Strasbourg and although they are still likely to be competitive, their lack of cutting edge makes them easy to oppose at the Raymond Kopa Stadium.

Lorient have won three of their opening 13 games and although those victories came against Nice, Lille and Monaco they are yet to win away from home and haven’t won on the road in Ligue 1 in over a year. 

Angers got off their best-ever start through four matches and sat second but just one win in nine games since leaves them in ninth heading into the weekend. A credible 1-1 draw at the Champions Lille, last time out, was encouraging though and they have beaten both Rennes and Lyon at home this season so are capable of a result. 

Lorient have lost three of their six away games this season and we predict more road misery at Angers, with the hosts taken to win 2-1 given that both teams have scored in each of Angers’ last six games.
