Arsenal and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Arsenal have won their last six matches at the Emirates and should be too strong for Bayern Munich, who have lost four of their last six away games. However, Bayern have scored 24 goals in their last eight games and should be backed to score in defeat at the Emirates.

Arsenal 3-1

Reason for tip

While Bayern have been scoring plenty, they have been conceding at a worrying rate too. The Bavarians have shipped ten goals in their last four matches, conceding three to each of Bochum and Heidenheim in that run, and could feel the full brunt of an Arsenal attack which has scored three goals or more in seven of their last 13 outings.

Harry Kane To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Harry Kane has enjoyed an excellent first season in Germany, scoring 38 goals in his 37 appearances for Bayern despite his side’s struggles, and rates a solid bet to get the Bavarians’ on the scoresheet in his former home of London. In 17 Premier League North London Derbies for Spurs Kane scored 14 goals against the Gunners, and could come back to haunt them again.

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Arsenal have won 11 of their 14 matches in 2024, losing just twice in that run
  • Bayern have won the last three meetings between the pair, landing a 5-1 victory in each of those clashes
  • The Bavarians have lost four of their last six away games, with both teams scoring in their last four road matches

Bavarians bound for trouble in London

Bayern Munich’s season has been one to forget so far and they are looking set for a first trophyless campaign since 2011/2012, unless they can upset the odds and land the Champions League.

However, that looks very unlikely given their torrid run of form. The German giants have won just four of their last ten matches, losing to Bundesliga relegation candidates Bochum and inconsistent Lazio in that run, and they come into this huge tie with zero momentum, having followed up their Der Klassiker defeat with a 3-2 loss at mid-table Heidenheim.

Their away form is a real cause for concern as Thomas Tuchel’s men have won just one of their last six on their travels, which is bad news ahead of their trip to the Emirates, where Arsenal have won six on the spin.

The Gunners have won 11 of their 14 matches in 2024, notably earning four wins by a margin of five or more goals as well as a convincing 3-1 victory over Premier League title rivals Liverpool in that run, and Mikel Arteta’s men will be confident they can reverse the form of recent meetings with the Bavarians.

The last three meetings between this pair have seen Bayern run out 5-1 victors, which should give the visitors some confidence amidst plenty of stats that certainly will not, although this is a very different Arsenal side these days and it is hard to envisage anything other than a home win unfolding on Tuesday.

Hosts may struggle to land shutout

However, while Arsenal may prove too strong for Bayern, they may struggle to contain their visitors completely. Tuchel’s men may have been woeful in recent weeks, but they are still capable of scoring at a frightening rate and despite a poor run of form, Munich have netted 24 times in their last eight games.

The Gunners have seen both teams score in three of their last five home matches while they have also conceding in half of their eight Champions League games this season, so it could pay to back Bayern to net, albeit in defeat, in north London on Tuesday.

Frontlines to the fore at the Emirates

Arsenal’s chances are boosted massively by the return to full fitness of both Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli and their potent frontline which has netted 17 goals in the Gunners’ last six home matches should outscore the Bavarians.

Although the visitors are not short of talent themselves, with Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry all in great form, so you would expect one of those to help Munich breach their hosts on Tuesday.

However, Bayern will likely be without Manuel Neuer in goal for their trip to London, which is another reason why preference is for Arsenal to outscore their opponents in an exciting Champions League affair at the Emirates.
