Rangers vs Hibernian Predictions
- Rangers have won seven of their eight home league games this season.
- Five of Rangers’ seven home league wins this term also saw them lead at half-time.
- Hibernian have lost seven of the last eight away H2H encounters.
- No side has lost more away league games at both HT/FT than Hibs’ five.
The second coming of Mick Beale begins here
After leaving with Steven Gerrard for Aston Villa around a year ago, former Rangers assistant manager Michael Beale returns to take the top job.
Beale recently stated that the team are not in the same place mentally as they were when he left, which is perhaps a fair assessment considering they’re now almost certainly out of the title race.
Rangers have picked up two thirds of their points at home though, a league-high return of 22. That has somewhat helped to keep the gap to Celtic to nine points, although banking on their city rivals to drop that many points until the end of the season could be a long shot.
Poor-travelling Hibs could be found out
Hibernian occupy the bottom-half of the table and could find it hard to close the gap to the top-half here in Glasgow. The visitors are one of only three sides yet to draw an away league game, yet six defeats from eight trips hardly inspires confidence amongst the Hibees.
Visiting boss Lee Johnson masterminded a 2-2 draw with Rangers in his only touchline meeting with them to date. Even so, playing at Ibrox is a different challenge altogether and we predict that this uptick in challenge will show.
Of Hibs’ six away league losses, five also saw them trail at half-time, an unwanted league high! We predict that this trend will continue with another HT/FT Rangers home win to kick off the Beale era in style, with a smaller stakes punt on a 2-0 correct score rounding out our selections.
