Arsenal vs Leeds Predictions

  • Leeds have lost all 10 of their visits to the top six
  • The visitors have conceded 27 goals across seven games at the top eight
  • Leeds have lost by 2+ goals in 10 of their 16 league losses
  • Arsenal have won by 2+ goals in seven of 11 home victories

Gunners looking ahead

Their push for the top four is going down to the wire, but Arsenal have looked beyond that to hand Mikel Arteta a new deal which runs through to 2025. The Gunners have made clear progress this season with their young side, while they’ve won their last three games to sit two points clear in fourth.

A return to the Champions League is on the cards, but for Leeds they’re looking at a return to the Championship. Their second season has seen them fall to 17th, just two points clear of the bottom three. having struggled at the top sides this term, Sunday could be another difficult afternoon for Leeds.

Top tier struggles for Leeds

Leeds have suffered a defeat in all 10 of their meetings with the current top six, which accounts for over half of their 16 league defeats this term. They’ve been poor away at top teams, losing 7-0 at City and 6-0 at Liverpool. In total, the visitors have conceded 27 goals across their seven visits to the top eight.

They lost 4-1 at home to Arsenal earlier this season, with their defensive struggles leading to plenty of heavy defeats. Leeds have lost by two or more in 10 of their 16 league defeats and in half of their away losses. With that record behind them, Jesse Marsch’s side won’t want to visit the in-form Gunners.

Elite company for Gunners

Having been mercilessly mocked in recent years, Arsenal have stated a strong case to be part of the Premier League’s elite this term. Only top two sides Manchester City (26) and Liverpool (25) have won more league games than Arsenal this season (20).

Those two sides are also the only teams to have picked up more home points than the Gunners this season, with the hosts winning 11 of 17 at their own ground. They’ve won seven of those by two clear goals and facing Leeds should provide Arteta with another big win to celebrate his new deal.

Arsenal -1 is my main selection in this one, with Leeds fresh from a 4-0 loss to City and Arsenal scoring nine goals across their last three wins. The Gunners are also yet to concede at home to a bottom six side, so a 3-0 victory is my correct score prediction.

Arsenal predicted lineup: Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, Holding, Gabriel, Tavares; Elneny, Xhaka; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Nketiah

Leeds predicted lineup: Meslier; Ayling, Llorente, Strijk, Firpo; Klich, Philips; Raphinha, Rodrigo, Harrison; James
