Aston Villa vs Bologna Predictions

• Both teams to score has been a winning bet in just two of Aston Villa’s last 11 games

Villans vying to rectify miserable start

Just over 11 months ago Aston Villa were full of confidence ahead of a Champions League clash with Bologna, having just beaten Bayern Munich 1-0 in the same competition. 

Fast-forward to today, however, and there is a very different mood in the Villans camp as they prepare for a Europa League opener against the same Italian outfit, in which they will be aiming to land a first win of the campaign. 

Unai Emery’s side failed to make the most of Sunderland’s first-half red card on Sunday, being held to a 1-1 draw which extended their winless run to seven, and there is no guarantee they replicate the 2-0 victory they landed over Bologna last October. 

Goals may be in short supply 

There have been a number of issues plaguing Villa but it is in front of goal where they are struggling most. The Villans have scored just two goals all season, blanking in four of their six matches, and it could be another night of frustration on Thursday. 

Bologna have won two of their last three games and will be looking to capitalise on Villa’s poor performances but they are hardly in prolific goalscoring form themselves. 

Vincenzo Italiano’s side have scored just three goals in four of their games this term and it seems likely at least one team will fail to find the net for the tenth time in 12 Villa matches.
