Athletic Bilbao vs Celta Vigo Betting Tips & Predictions

This could be one of the games of the weekend in La Liga. Celta in 5th are 2 points better off than Athletic in 6th but with Europa League the prize for both places, both clubs will have one eye on 4th place Villarreal, who hold a 4 point advantage on Celta Vigo currently, but aren’t in great domestic form. Celta will be delighted with their Europa League qualification in truth and rewarded coach Eduardo Berizzo with a new contract this week. The Galicians are unbeaten in 7 matches following Monday’s 2-1 home win against Granada.

This will be their toughest match of that run though. Athletic are the stronger all-round team but there extensive participation in Europe this term has perhaps left its mark on their fitness levels so they might have been a few points better off without it. They have enjoyed a rare week off though and there are still doubts about Celta’s defensive capability. Away to the top sides they struggled of late, shipping 7 goals at Real Madrid and 6 at Barcelona within the last 3 months and given Athletic have the best goalscoring record outside the top 3, they are likely to concede a few here.
