Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

At least three goals have been scored in three of Ipswich’s last four away games and also in 11 of Wolves’ last 12 in the Premier League. These two clubs have conceded 65 goals between them this season and over 2.5 in this one should be no problem.

Ipswich 2-1

Reason for tip

Wolves are in turmoil with players and staff seen arguing among themselves after Monday’s defeat to West Ham. They have lost nine of their last 13 games in all competitions and could be vulnerable to an Ipswich side that have put themselves in winning positions without getting over the line of late. Back a 2-1 Town win, which would be a repeat of their only victory in the top-flight this season – at Tottenham last month.

Sammie Szmodics To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Sammie Smodzics has proven capable of getting a goal in Town’s road games, having scored all three of his Premier League goals this season away from Portman Road.

Wolverhampton vs Ipswich Predictions

  • At least three goals have been scored in three of Ipswich’s last four away games
  • At least three goals have been scored in 11 of Wolves’ last 12 in the Premier League
  • Wolves are in turmoil with players and staff seen arguing among themselves after Monday’s defeat to West Ham

Wolves stick with O’Neil for now

Wolves and Ipswich will start Saturday’s game level on points in the relegation zone and it appears as though only a win will be good enough to keep Gary O’Neil in his job at Molineux.

The Wolves head coach has been backed by the board following his side’s latest defeat – Monday’s 2-1 reverse against West Ham – but the club have been sounding out potential replacements.

The Old Gold hierarchy will not have been pleased by the sight of captain Mario Lemina shoving two teammates that attempted to calm him down after the game or the moment when he squared up to assistant head coach Shaun Derry. It all paints a picture of a club in turmoil and, whether that is true or not, the results this season indicate there is trouble ahead.

Tractor Boys travel in hope

Wolves have lost nine of their last 13 games in all competitions, including three Premier League games in a row.  A return of only four points from a possible 21 at home has put them in this awkward spot and the fans appear ready to make their feelings known if things go badly against Ipswich this weekend.

The Tractor Boys travel to Molineux still ruing the moments that cost them points against Bournemouth last Sunday. Kieran McKenna’s side led from the 21st minute to the 87th minute and still failed to add to their nine-point total.

Individual mistakes and poor game management have been a running theme throughout their campaign, but Town do not lack fighting spirit or an ability to score goals away from home. Ipswich have scored in five of their seven top-flight road trips, bagging three times at Brentford and nabbing a 2-1 win at Tottenham lately.

Weak defences mean goals are likely

Liam Delap remains a threat, although he has gone a bit quiet in the past few weeks, but Sammie Smodzics has proven capable of getting a goal in Town’s away games and can be a good anytime goalscorer option against Wolves.

Goals look likely in this clash because neither team have been particularly good at defending this season. Only four clubs have conceded more goals than Town’s tally of 27 and one of those is Wolves, who have shipped a staggering 38.

Backing over 2.5 strikes in the game looks a solid play given at least three goals have been scored in three of Ipswich’s last four away games and 11 of Wolves’ last 12 in the Premier League.
