Mid-table Athletic Bilbao are traditionally strong on home soil and that has certainly proved the case of late, as they have lost just one of their last six games at the San Mames, with that sole defeat coming against Barcelona.

Indeed, 23 of Bilbao’s 34 points this season have come on home soil and that record is likely to be extended on Saturday when they take on Basque rivals Eibar, who sit second-bottom of the standings.

Eibar’s slide into the relegation zone has largely come about as they have failed to win any of their last 10 league matches – the longest current winless streak in the division.

The club’s away form was arguably their one saving grace earlier in the season, but even that has now deserted them, as Joe Luis Mendilibar’s side have picked up just three points from their last eight matches on the road.

The San Mames is not a happy hunting ground for Eibar either, as they have failed to win on any of their seven previous visits to the venue, while Bilbao are unbeaten in the last 10 meetings between the two sides home or away.

That record is likely to be extended on Saturday, as we are predicting a home win for Bilbao and we predict that victory will be to nil, given no team has scored fewer goals in La Liga this season than Eibar.
