Atletico Madrid to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Atletico Madrid have won their last 13 home games with at least three goals in nine while Bodo/Glimt have lost two of their last five away matches with at least three goals in all five

4/6odds when tipped

Atletico Madrid 3-1

Reason for tip

Atleti have scored exactly three goals in four of their last 11 games in all competitions. They could continue that trend against a Bodo/Glimt side that shipped three goals at Galatasaray and two apiece in Dortmund and Prague. The visitors are probably worth a goal based on their excellent attacking play against Manchester City last week.

Atletico Madrid vs Bodo Glimt Predictions

  • Atletico Madrid have won their last 13 home games with at least three goals in nine
  • Bodo/Glimt have lost two of their last five away matches with at least three goals in all five
  • Alexander Sorloth has scored in four of his last six matches for Atleti (five starts)

A glimmer of hope for Glimt

Atletico Madrid need to beat Bodo/Glimt to ensure a place in the seeded pot for the knockout phase play-offs while a sensational away win for the Norwegians could propel them into the next round too.

Glimt were given next to no chance of progressing after the first five matchdays, but a 2-2 December draw in Dortmund and a remarkable 3-1 demolition of Manchester City last week give them renewed hope.

But it will be tough for them to overcome a machine-like Atleti side that have won 13 straight games at the Metropolitano. Diego Simeone’s side saw off the challenge of Real Mallorca readily enough on Sunday with ex-Glimt striker Alexander Sorloth setting them on the road to a 3-0 win.

Sorloth set to strike against former employers

He is an obvious candidate to score if you believe in the ‘law of the ex’, but also on pure form after he registered in four of Atleti’s last six games. While Glimt are nursing some tired bodies after their success against City, they have had eight days to prepare for the match.

Kjetil Knutsen’s men can be vulnerable on the flanks and that has been one of Atleti’s strong suits this season, which suggests the hosts can grab their usual tally of three goals in the clash.

But the visitors have a huge incentive to take the game to the Spanish giants too as a draw is unlikely to be enough to take them through, so back the hosts to win with at last three goals in the game and potentially a 3-1 scoreline.
