Atletico Madrid to Win and Over 4.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Atletico Madrid have scored at least three goals in four of their last six games, winning three of them. They are averaging over two goals per game at home since the start of the year and the state of the tie suggests an open second leg, which could lead to a home win with at least five goals. Raphael Onyedika, Brugge’s best player from the first leg, is suspended for the second game and they will miss the control he brings to their midfield.

Atletico Madrid 4-1

Reason for tip

Atletico Madrid have won their last two home games 4-2 and 4-0. They can hit another quartet of goals against a side that shipped three to them at home, but a clean sheet seems unlikely given how much trouble Club Brugge caused last week. Back a 4-1 home win.

Ademola Lookman To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Ademola Lookman has scored on four of his five starts for Atletico Madrid, including the first leg in Belgium. He caused major problems for the Club Brugge right-back, who looks better going forward than in defence.

Atletico Madrid vs Club Brugge Predictions

  • Atletico Madrid have won their last two home games 4-2 and 4-0
  • Club Brugge have kept one clean sheet in their last five games and conceded three at home to Atleti
  • Raphael Onyedika, Brugge’s best player from the first leg, is suspended for the second game

Brugge missing key midfielder for return

Atletico Madrid were given an almighty scare in Belgium last week but Diego Simeone’s side should be able to see off an exciting but relatively youthful Club Brugge at the Metropolitano on Tuesday.

The Colchoneros probably thought they had the tie in the bag when they went 2-0 up at Jan Breydal Stadium, but Brugge refused to lie down and battled back to level twice in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Ivan Leko’s side have a sprinkling of top-level European experience running through their side, but the stars of the first-leg show were 24-year-old midfielder Raphael Onyedika, 21-year-old striker Nicolo Tresoldi and 20-year-old winger Mamadou Diakhon.  Onyedika is suspended for this trip to Madrid after collecting one yellow card too many, but Simeone should have all his big guns primed for a return clash of few surprises.

Simeone’s side are more spectacular than ever

Atleti beat Espanyol 4-2 in La Liga at the weekend with Ademola Lookman and Alexander Sorloth, who both also impressed in Belgium, on the scoresheet. It was the second straight home game where they had bagged a quartet of goals after their recent Copa del Rey mauling of Barcelona.

Barca should have scored in that game, but the result speaks for itself and leads to the conclusion that Simeone’s side are more of a “we will score one more than you” side than his pragmatic teams of the past.

Back the hosts to win with at least five goals in the game at better odds than Atleti to win with both teams to score because the end-to-end nature of the first leg suggests this could be spectacular.
