Auxerre vs Sochaux Predictions

Auxerre fancied to make the final 

Auxerre will be keen to put the disappointment of missing out on automatic promotion behind them as they head into the Ligue 2 play-offs. Jean-Marc Furlan’s side enter the play-offs in fine form having ended the regular season unbeaten in their final eight games. Auxerre won the regular season home fixture against Sochaux 3-2 in March and go into Friday’s game with the benefit of a full week’s preparation. Sochaux struggled against the league’s best  

Sochaux were very fortunate to come through their play-off quarter final against Paris. Paris missed two penalties and had a man sent off in Sochaux’s 2-1 victory on Tuesday. Sochaux’s victory over Paris was the first time they had beaten one of Ligue 2’s top five on the road this season – Sochaux lost all four away matches in the regular season against the remainder of the Ligue 2’s top five. Sochaux will have to improve on Tuesday’s effort if they are to overcome an Auxerre side who they failed to beat in the regular season.

Auxerre to win in 90 minutes will be the main selection for Friday’s Ligue 2 play-off semi-final. Auxerre go into Friday’s game in fine fettle, they have got the measure of Sochaux this season, having taken four points of them in the regular season and have had a full week to prepare for this game – there is a lot to like about their chances and should be backed accordingly. Three of Auxerre’s last four victories have come by way of a 2-1 score line – a 2-1 home win will be the correct score prediction for this play-off tie.
