Partick should see the job through

Partick Thistle look to have one foot in the Scottish Premiership playoff final and they should have few problems completing the job when they head to Somerset Park to take on Ayr in the second leg of their semi-final.

Thistle claimed a 3-0 victory at Firhill in the opening encounter and the fact they scored four times in both legs of their quarter-final against Queen’s Park suggest they are finding their touch in front of goal at exactly the right time.

They head to Ayr having lost just one of their last 15 games and confidence will be high that they will be in good shape for whoever finishes second from bottom in the Premiership.

Ayr are bound to be positive under the circumstances and there is a strong chance that both teams will find the net, particularly as they enjoyed the lion’s share of possession in teh first game and created plenty of chances without taking any of them.

They have scored more than two goals in just one of their last 11 home games, which is a concern that they may be unable to fight their way back into the tie.
