Banfield vs Boca Juniors Predictions

Monday’s Superliga Argentina action sees Banfield and Boca Juniors doing battle at the Estadio Florencio Sola. The visitors arrive as big favourites to claim all three points and are expected to do exactly that without any issues.

After a mediocre 16th place finish in last season’s Superliga Argentina, Banfield were hoping for a slight improvement this campaign but boss Hernan Crespo is finding it difficult to get the best out of the team. El Taladro have some extremely talented youngsters in their ranks and have added some experience prior to the season starting but it does feel as though time and patience is going to be required; something Argentine football is hardly renowned for.

Indeed, Banfield haven’t made a great start to the season, managing to scrape a 1-0 home victory against Estudiantes but losing away at both newly promoted Arsenal de Sarandi and Argentinos Juniors. Having also won just 1 of their last 10 home games overall, confidence simply cannot be very high coming into a game against a side as talented as Boca are.

With a squad jam packed full of quality all over the pitch, the visitors are clearly the outstanding candidate to win the Superliga title this season; something they are desperate to do having been dethroned by Racing Club last season. Balancing Libertadores and league football won’t be an easy task, but there’s little doubting Boca have the depth to compete on both fronts.

Early signs would suggest Gustavo Alfaro’s men will have no problems in doing exactly that and they arrive in great shape. They put themselves all but into the semi finals of the Libertadores with a stunning 3-0 win away at Ecuadorians LDU Quito in midweek and have now also won their last two league matches; a sequence they’ll be hoping to continue on Monday.

Ultimately, if Boca are to claim the title as expected, this is exactly the type of match they need to be winning. Travelling to Banfield isn’t presently the most challenging of games in the Superliga and with superior quality to the hosts in all areas, it’s not a match the visitors will be wanting to drop points in.

All things considered, backing a Boca win looks by far the best way to play here as far as the betting is concerned and is exactly where our money is going. They’ve won their last 5 competitive matches against Banfield and there are no signs suggesting that’s about to change, with a 2-0 margin of away victory appearing well on the cards.
