AC Milan vs Genoa Predictions

  • AC Milan have gone 12 games unbeaten in all competitions, winning six.
  • The Rossoneri have also kept six consecutive clean sheets.
  • Genoa, meanwhile, have failed to score in seven of their last 11 games.

Rossoneri’s Scudetto hopes harmed by stalemates

Consecutive goalless draws with Bologna and Torino have dealt a blow to the Serie A title hopes of Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan, though the Rossoneri still lead the race after a run of 12 games without losing in all competitions. Milan’s defensive record has been excellent in recent weeks, but will need to find more goals if they are to fend off their rivals to lift a first title since 2011.

Indeed, Milan have kept six consecutive clean sheets, though three of those games have ended goalless. The Rossoneri recorded narrow 1-0 wins in the other three of those encounters, but a return of 56 goals in 31 league games, the fifth-best such return in Serie A, offers hope that Pioli’s high-pressing team can get back to their scintillating best in the vital run-in.

Milan have already defeated relegation-threatened Genoa twice this season, beating them 3-0 in Serie A in December before eliminating them from the Coppa Italia in January. Genoa have scored a dreadful 24 goals in their 32 league outings, and, while only conceding more than one goal once in their last 10 matches, Alexander Blessin’s men have failed to find the net seven times in their 11 games.

Back Rossoneri for shutout win against poor visitors

Given Genoa’s horrendous attacking returns, as well as Milan’s superb defensive form in recent weeks, backing the hosts for a shutout win at San Siro looks a strong play, particularly when recalling that Milan kept a clean sheet in December’s away win over the same opponents.

Meanwhile, Milan’s lack of goal has to end sooner or later, and a routine 2-0 victory could represent a decent play for correct score punters.
