Bolton to Win

Reason for tip

Bolton are in stronger form than out-of-sorts Barnsley and sit 12 points above them in the table. The hosts have just one win in their last seven home games, while Bolton have the attacking edge to take advantage and secure a valuable away win on Saturday at Oakwell.

Bolton 2-1

Reason for tip

A 2-1 Bolton win appeals with Barnsley having lost by that scoreline seven times this season. Bolton have won two of their last three league matches by one goal, and if both teams score again, as Barnsley have in their last five, the visitors may edge another narrow victory.

Barnsley vs Bolton Predictions

Attacking threat decisive for Trotters

Bolton carry more of a threat in the final third than Barnsley and that could make the difference when the teams meet at Oakwell on Saturday. Back Stephen Schumacher’s side to get the better of an out-of-form Barnsley, who are managed by Conor Hourihane.

They are six places and 12 points above Barnsley in the table. The hosts are 13th with a record of 15 wins, nine draws and 17 defeats, while the visitors, who have won 20, drawn six and lost 15, are seventh.

Barnsley were beaten 6-2 by Birmingham in their last League One game last weekend, in what was their second consecutive defeat. They struggled to get a foothold in the game following an early red card and Birmingham had the chances to win by more.

The hosts are on a disappointing run at home. Barnsley have gone three League One games without a win and have managed just one victory in their last seven on their own patch.

The 2-1 away win for Bolton looks a decent bet in the correct-score market. They have won twice of their last three League One games by the odd goal and Barnsley have been on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat seven times this season. If both teams score, it would be the sixth game in succession for Barnsley.
