Bastia vs Nancy Predictions

Bastia failed to make any significant improvement over the course of last season as they snuck up the table to finish in an uninspiring 10th position in the Ligue 1 table. On the evidence of the opening stages of this season, not much has changed over the summer.

They began their season with a 1-0 defeat at PSG, which, all things considered, isn’t a bad result . An impressive 3-0 win at Lorient followed to give the Bastia fans hope, but it was followed by a very poor showing as they lost 2-0 at Caen.

Bastia managed to get another win on the boards after the international break when they beat Toulouse 2-1 at home, but Sunday saw them fall to a very late defeat at Saint-Etienne. They looked to be heading to a goalless draw until a 93rd minute winner stole a point from under their noses.  This leaves them in 11th position with six points from their five games so far.

Nancy are having a similar season in terms of points accrued, but they will be much happier with their progress. They were promoted as Ligue 2 champions at the end of last season, and things looked bleak for them until a couple of weeks ago.

They lost their season opener 3-0 to Lyon as Alexandre Lacazette welcomed them back to the top flight with an emphatic hat trick. This was followed by 2-0 defeats to Rennes and Guingamp to leave them pointless and goalless after three games.

Nancy finally got off the mark with a 2-0 win at Lorient last weekend though, and they followed this with a 1-1 draw at home to Nantes on Saturday. They are still second from bottom in the table, but their recent improvements will have instilled some hope into players and fans alike.

Both Bastia and Nancy tend to either have good games or bad games, with no in between. Both have lost three of their five games this season, and both have failed to score in any of them. Nancy have only seen both sides find the back of the net in one of their games so far this campaign, and Bastia have the same record to show.

This makes odds of 7/10 for Both Teams NOT to Score look very good value for money, so I’m backing that. I think Bastia have enough advantage in quality to get the win as well, so I’m going for a 1-0 correct score prediction at 5/1.
