Bayer Leverkusen to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Leverkusen have won seven of their last nine matches and the free-scoring Germans have scored 35 goals in their 13 games this season. Die Werkself look a good bet to win a high-scoring contest against a weak Marseille outfit.

      Bayer Leverkusen 3-1

      Reason for tip

Marseille lost a whole host of key performers in the summer and the Phocaeans have lost seven of their last 11 matches. There have been 13 goals in the French side’s last four away games and Leverkusen can be fancied to win 3-1 in this spot.

      Bayer Leverkusen vs Marseille Predictions

      • Leverkusen have won seven of their last nine matches
      • Leverkusen have scored 35 goals in their 13 games this season
      • Marseille have lost seven of their last 11 matches

      Leverkusen levels above Marseille

Marseille lost star performer Mason Greenwood, captain Leonardo Balerdi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Quinten Timber and Argentine duo Geronimo Rulli and Facundo Medina in the summer and financial issues and transfer sanctions prevented the Phocaeans from bringing in the required replacements.

Bruno Genesio’s men lost five of their opening six matches of the campaign and that was no surprise given the quality that has departed the south of France.

Marseille have steadied the ship a little to win back-to-back games against Toulouse and Le Havre, but the Phocaeans are heading for choppy waters against Bayer Leverkusen.

Genesio’s side were beaten 1-0 at Sturm Graz in their most recent Europa League tie and Marseille hit only one shot on target on that away day. That loss followed a 1-0 home defeat to Olympiakos and the Phocaeans’ depleted squad is struggling to compete in multiple competitions.

Leverkusen have won seven of their last nine games, Die Werkself have scored 35 goals in their 13 games this season and European competition has yielded victories over NK Celje, Lech Poznan and OFI Crete.

Carles Martinez Novell’s side rate serious contenders for the Europa League trophy and Leverkusen can see off Marseille in comfortable fashion.
