Bayer Leverkusen can be backed to make a winning start under Erik ten Hag when they host Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Ten Hag, who replaced Xabi Alonso after the Spaniard departed for Real Madrid, has a big task on his hands following the departures of several key players including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Granit Xhaka.

However, Leverkusen have kicked off their last two Bundesliga campaigns with a win and will view a home clash with Hoffenheim as an excellent chance to start positively.

They finished second in the Bundesliga last season, winning 19 games and losing just three times. Hoffenheim, in contrast, ended the campaign in 15th place, with seven wins and 16 defeats.

Leverkusen have only lost one of their last ten Bundesliga head-to-heads with Hoffenheim, and will be confident of getting the result they need.

The visitors finished last season in poor form on their travels, failing to win any of their last five Bundesliga games on the road.

Leverkusen should find a way through, with Hoffenheim having failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five Bundesliga away games.

Bayer Leverkusen have won the last two Bundesliga meetings with Hoffenheim by at least two goals and, with five of Hoffenheim’s 16 defeats last season seeing them on the wrong end of a two-goal deficit, a 2-0 home win looks a decent option.
