Bayern Munich vs PSV Predictions
Bayern Munich’s 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in matchday two of the Champions League group stages ended their perfect start to the season, and it seems to have had further repercussions on the squad as a whole. They have drawn back to back games against Cologne and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga since, making this the first time they have failed to win three matches in a row since April 2015.
Prior to this defeat they were in excellent form, with eight wins out of eight competitive games, 27 goals scored, and just one goal conceded. Since then they have scored three and conceded four to make for a very miserable month or so.
Bayern Munich are still very much the team to beat in Germany though. They remain top of the pile in the Bundesliga, not least thanks to Robert Lewandowski and young midfielder Joshua Kimmich. The two have scored six goals apiece so far this season, with Kimmich bagging two in the Champions League. Obviously all the plaudits from the bookies are going to Lewandowski, with the Polish front-man touted as a 4/9 shot at scoring anytime. Kimmich has netted in three of Bayern Munich’s last four games though, so his odds of 7/2 to score anytime look incredibly good value.
PSV aren’t in the best of form domestically either. They have drawn three matches on the bounce in all competitions, starting with their 2-2 draw in Rostov and continuing with 1-1 scorelines against Heerenveen and Heracles. This puts them all the way down in 4th in the Eredivisie, which isn’t a place they are familiar with given their last couple of seasons.
PSv have already lost twice this season, both at home against Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord. Generally they have looked pretty good at the back, but Champions League newcomers Rostov cut them apart in Russia and now they face the much more difficult task of going head to head with Bayern Munich a the Allianz Arena.
Obviously Bayern Munich are touted as huge favourites for this game with odds of 2/11. They are favourites, but in my opinion that’s far too short of a price, and the handicaps aren’t too favourable either. I think the best value to be found is in the aforementioned prediction of Joshua Kimmich to Score Anytime at 7/2 along with a 3-0 correct score prediction at 7/1.
