Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Predictions
- Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last ten Champions League contests
- Bayern Munich have kept just two clean sheets in their last nine games
- Each of Real Madrid’s last three wins have been by single-goal margins
- Rodrygo has scored five Champions League goals this season
European heavyweights fresh from Premier League scalps
Both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid squeezed past Premier League opposition in the last eight of the Champions League, setting up a blockbuster semi-final with the first leg taking place at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.
A Joshua Kimmich header handed Bayern Munich a 1-0 win over Arsenal in the second leg in Bavaria after the first leg in north London finished 2-2, while Real Madrid dumped holders Manchester City out on penalties after a 4-4 aggregate scoreline.
Of the two, though, Real Madrid were arguably the more impressive, having carved out victory in the tie thanks to robust defending and fine game management overseen by Carlo Ancelotti.
Bayern, meanwhile, rode their luck in their two-legged affair with Arsenal and were gifted both of their goals in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.
Injury issues will not help uninspiring Bayern
Thomas Tuchel is set to depart the Allianz Arena at the end of the season and it has been a pretty underwhelming campaign with Bayer Leverkusen wrestling the Bundesliga title off them and minnows Saarbrucken dumping them out of the DFB Pokal.
The Champions League is therefore their only shot at silverware but they taking down Real Madrid is a huge ask.
Bayern Munich have been pretty uninspiring at times this season anyway but they will not be helped by player absences going into this first leg.
Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman could all miss out, limiting Bayern’s options at both ends of the pitch, while the fitness of crucial midfield engine Konrad Laimer is also uncertain.
Gamechanger Jamal Musiala is another doubt and even if many of the aforementioned crop make it back in time for the first leg, it remains to be seen just how fit the team will be.
Los Blancos ready to make their mark in Bavaria
As for Los Blancos, they should be full of confidence and energy heading into this first leg.
Ancelotti made the call to field a second-string side against Real Sociedad last time out and they squeezed past the Basque club 1-0 on Friday night.
That will have given Real Madrid’s star men ample rest and Jude Bellingham is set to return after suffering from a sickness bug which is a huge boost.
Real Madrid are the bet to win the match in Bavaria but it could be tight and 2-1 is the way to go in the correct score betting.
As for a goalscorer pick, Rodrygo, who should also return from illness, has bagged five goals in the Champions League this season and he can get on the scoresheet.
