Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Ayr are yet to draw a blank this season and have scored an impressive 13 goals across six teams. The Championship side look capable of scoring against a Killie outfit who have shipped nine goals across their last two games, but Kilmarnock have struck four themselves in that period so goals at both ends looks likely.

Kilmarnock 2-1

Reason for tip

Kilmarnock have endured a mixed start to the season but they are generally strong at Rugby Park and have only lost to Celtic, twice, across their last 11 competitive home games. The Premiership side look the more likely winners and they can grind out a 2-1 win.

Kilmarnock vs Ayr Predictions

  • Kilmarnock have scored in four of their last five games
  • Ayr have scored in all six of their games this season
  • Ayr won at Falkirk in the group stage

Killie in need of Scottish League Cup boost

Kilmarnock came through the group stage of the League Cup with relative ease but they have endured a tough start to the Premiership season.

Friday night’s home game against Championship side Ayr offers a chance to end a run of back-to-back losses, following league defeats to St Johnstone and Celtic, but the visitors shouldn’t be underestimated.

Ayr won at Premiership side Falkirk during the group stage and topped their group. They are unbeaten after six games in all competitions this season and have won five of those – so they will feel capable of pulling off an upset.

Kilmarnock are the heavy favourites but with Ayr in good form backing them at a short price doesn’t offer much appeal, instead going for both teams to score at around evens looks the better option.

Ayr are yet to draw a blank this season and have scored 13 goals across their six games. Kille have scored in four of their last five games and have scored four goals across their last two, conceding nine themselves in just two Premiership games.

Kilmarnock have only lost two of their last 11 competitive games at Rugby Park stretching back into last season and both of those defeats came against Celtic. With home advantage, they look the more likely winners and a 2-1 win for the Premiership side against Championship opposition has a chance in the correct score market.
