Killie to make a winning start

Kilmarnock begin their first league season outside of the top flight in 28 years this Monday night when they face off against Ayr at Rugby Park, and Tommy Wright’s side are taken to make a confident start.

After seven years as St Johnstone boss, Wright steps into the hotseat at Rugby Park with the clear aim of overseeing an immediate return to the top flight for Killie, who succumbed to relegation in 2020/21 following a 4-2 aggregate play-off defeat to Dundee.

Killie are odds-on favourites to win the Scottish Championship this term, and they’re reasonably priced here at around 4/7 to post an opening success over an Ayr side who finished 8^th last season.
