Benfica to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Benfica have won 12 of their 14 home league games this season, while eight of their last nine matches at Estadio da Luz have contained 3+ strikes. Their opponents, who drew 2-2 at home to Estrela last weekend, have lost four times in their last five outings on the road.

Benfica 3-0

Reason for tip

Benfica have scored three or more goals in four of their last nine home games, including a 3-0 victory over Gil Vicente, whereas Moreirense have failed to score in four of their last five on the road.

Benfica vs Moreirense Predictions

  • Benfica have won 12 of their 14 home league games this season
  • Moreirense are on a run of four defeats in their last five on the road
  • Eight of Benfica’s last nine outings at the Estadio da Luz have contained 3+ goals

Benfica still in the title race…just!

The season is reaching its climax, and Benfica head into this round of fixtures four points off top spot in the Primeira Liga with only six games remaining, so they know they simply have to win.

It is therefore a good thing they are back a the Estadio da Lux, where Roger Schmidt’s side have registered 12 victories from 14 attempts in the league, with the other two matches ending all square.

They are also not shy of hitting the back of the net, scoring 37 times across those 14 home games, while eight of their last nine fixtures there have contained 3+ goals (seven of which have ended in victory).

Can Moreirense cause an upset?

That is not good news for visitors Moreirense, who make the long journey south on the back of losing four times in five outings on the road.

Worryingly, they have failed to score in each of those defeats, but their most recent fixture did contain 3+ strikes, a 2-2 draw at home to Estrela.

Paulo Alves’ side actually have one of the better defences in the division, conceding just 30 times over their 28 games, but their record against Benfica, to whom they have lost seven times in the last 13 attempts, winning just once, inspires little confidence.

I predict that Benfica will win this game with 3+ goals, selecting 3-0 as a correct score prediction.
