Berwick vs Hamilton Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Hamilton have an uphill task as they aim to secure a place in the knockout round of the League Cup. They’ve had a tough start to the new campaign, and they’re already having a tough time trying to keep pace with the top sides in the group. The same can be said for bottom side Berwick Rangers, and the pair meet on Tuesday night as the first round of the competition edges towards its conclusion. Will this be a much needed victory for the visitors, or can Berwick record a shock in midweek?

That was followed up with a draw at Livingston, as they missed out on a bonus point by losing the shoot-out to the new Premiership side. That was a blow to the Accies, given that they’re going to be doing battle against the drop with Livingston later this term. They  can’t touch their top-flight rivals this term, as they’re already clear at the top of the group with eight points from three matches, with a home clash against Berwick to come.

Hamilton are going to have a job on their hands to even make the top two, with just a point to their name. They need to turn things around with a victory against Berwick this week, and the visitors are heavy favourites. There’s a huge gap between the Accies and their League Two opponents, who were close to the bottom of the fourth tier. Their form hasn’t been much better this time around, losing their opening two games, ahead of clashes with two Premiership sides.

We can’t see the hosts getting anything from their final two games, especially after a terrible record in the fourth tier last term. They lost 47% of their League Two matches last season, with eight of their 17 defeats coming by at least three goals. That’s not a good omen ahead of a clash with a top flight side who need to win. While Hamilton have struggled so far, they’ll see this as the perfect chance to claim the points.

Hamilton have scored 17 times across their last six meetings with Berwick, while the visitors saw over 2.5 goals land in 68% of their matches in the Premiership last term. They are likely to have more luck in front of goal, with Berwick conceding seven goals in their opening two matches, and now they face a major step up. We see this being a comfortable away win, so we’re going with the Accies and over 2.5 goals as our main tip on this clash.
