Birmingham vs Wolves Predictions
These two sides have both made solid unbeaten starts to the Championship season and they’ll be pretty happy with identical records of one win and two draws from their opening three games.
Birmingham will have been delighted with how they’ve responded to two unconvincing showings at St Andrews in their opening two games. They could only draw 0-0 with Cardiff on the opening day and lost 1-0 at home to Oxford in the League Cup but, as was often the case last season ,they’ve found some joy on the road since. A 2-1 win at Leeds was nearly immediately followed with another away win, with the Blues leading, heading into stoppage time at Wigan on Tuesday thanks to David Davis’ goal. However the hosts grabbed a late leveler and Birmingham had to settle for a point.
They’ll be really eyeing up their home clash with Aston Villa in October, but there’s no love lost between themselves and local rivals Wolves either so this could be a heated affair. Wolves have made a good start to life under Walter Zenga who has guided them to draws against Rotherham and Ipswich and a win against Reading so far.
In terms of competing for the top six, both sides still look a little short on quality but they should both be aiming for a top half finish and there’s not a lot to choose between the sides. Wolves perhaps will have a bit more about them than their West Midlands rivals when they get one or two players back from serious injuries, but right now, they aren’t showing enough to suggest they will come here and win.
It should be a competitive game and neither manager would be distraught with the points being shared, and their unbeaten starts being extended, so backing the draw at 23/10 looks to offer the best value here.
