Tip Reasoning

  • Preston are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, winning four.
  • Birmingham have lost their last two Championship matches via a three goal margin.
  • The visitors have won four of the last five meetings including a 1-0 success at St Andrews in January.

Lilywhites to extend unbeaten run against The Blues

Resurgent Preston are unbeaten in seven games across league and cup and The Lilywhites look overpriced to secure another positive result at St Andrews this weekend against a Birmingham side who appear to have lost their way.

Preston boss Frankie McAvoy was starting to feel the heat in August after seeing his side lose their first three league matches of the campaign, but the 54 year-old has really managed to turn things around at Deepdale over the last month or so.

The Lilywhites have claimed nine points from their last five Championship games, while they’ve also progressed into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup following an easy 4-1 victory over Cheltenham in midweek.

Now unbeaten in seven, Preston have undoubtedly been underestimated by the bookmakers ahead of this Saturday’s clash – especially when you factor in that the Lilywhites have won four of the last five meetings between the sides including a 1-0 success at St Andrews in January.

Birmingham began the season extremely positively, however, they’ve now won just won of their last five outings on all fronts, suffering heavy three goal defeats in their last two Championship fixtures.

The Blues were woeful when going down 3-0 at Peterborough last weekend and odds of around evens for a home win here simply don’t reflect the contrasting form of these teams.

Preston have failed to win any of their four away trips in the league so far which is an obvious negative, but we’re backing them to put that right this Saturday. There’s enough juice in the prices to take some insurance on The Lilywhites via the draw no bet market, and 2-1 is our correct score prediction as the visitors have conceded in five of their last six.
