Coventry can get title charge back on track

Draws with Hull and Sheffield Wednesday will have frustrated Coventry boss Frank Lampard but his side remain ten points clear at the Championship summit after Ipswich’s loss to Portsmouth on Tuesday and they can get their title push back on track at Blackburn. 

The Sky Blues need two wins to clinch the title which has looked to be heading their way all season and there is little reason to doubt the first of those will arrive on Friday. 

Hosts Blackburn start the weekend just four points above the relegation zone and would also benefit greatly from a victory. However, their momentum was halted on Tuesday and a bounce-back win is unlikely. 

Relegation-threatened Rovers heading for damaging defeat

Rovers had gone five games without a defeat before their trip to Southampton but that streak was snapped emphatically by the Saints, who ran out 3-0 victors. 

Blackburn amassed just 0.3 expected-goals (xG) in that defeat, suggesting that while they are capable of frustrating teams, the best sides will overpower them. 

Leaders Coventry are certainly one of the Championship’s best sides and they should prove that at Ewood Park.
