Tip Reasoning

  • Blackburn have failed to win six of their last seven Championship matches, drawing two.
  • Millwall have won their last five league games, including their last two on the road.
  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in Blackburn’s last 11 Championship games and seven of Millwall’s last ten.

Opposing Blackburn looks the only way to go here

Blackburn look like a team in trouble right now and a Millwall team that can sniff out weaknesses will surely make life tough for them on Tuesday night. The form lines of these two clubs have flipped during the fortnight between the date when this fixture was originally scheduled to take place and now – with Gary Rowett’s side presently looking much the stronger.

The Lions travel to Lancashire on the back of five straight league wins – two of which were away from home at Derby and Reading. Neither of those teams are as good as Rovers, but Tony Mowbray’s men have lost their grip on second place and now appear to be careering towards the fringe of the playoff places.

The injury to top scorer Ben Brereton-Diaz came at a bad time and Rovers have scored just once in three subsequent games. They squeaked a 1-0 home win over QPR at the end of February to maintain a solid home record, but we can’t trust them to breach a rejuvenated Millwall backline here.

Rejuvenated Lions backline can restrict Rovers’ advances

Rowett was delighted with Saturday’s showing in Berkshire as the Royals, who had scored seven goals in their three previous home games, were restricted to just three attempts on target and an xG of 0.54. It took a set-piece for the Lions to pounce on all three points, but Millwall’s momentum make them an intriguing option in the double chance betting.

Blackburn have failed to win six of their last seven Championship matches, losing four and drawing two, so we feel Millwall have shown enough evidence that they can resist Rovers here and take something with them back to south London.

Fewer than three goals have been scored in Blackburn’s last 11 Championship games and seven of Millwall’s last ten so this one is likely to very tight – hence our 1-1 score prediction.
