Boavista vs Portimonese Predictions

  • Boavista have only lost two of their seven home league games, and these came against Porto and Benfica.
  • Portimonense have won one of their last 12 Primeira Liga matches, including none of their last six on the road.
  • Portimonense have failed to score in four of these six away games, netting just twice in total.
  • Boavista have averaged 1.0 goals per game at home this season.

Boavista look to regroup after well-timed winter break

The winter break couldn’t have come at a better time for Boavista, who headed into the festive period reeling from their fourth defeat in five league games. Prior to that they were actually enjoying a very promising season, having remained unbeaten for their first nine outings.

This excellent start to the campaign does leave them in a relatively comfortable position despite their recent troubles. Boavista lie 9th in the Primeira Liga table, seven points above the drop zone and six adrift of an unlikely top four spot.

As Panteras will have enjoyed the opportunity to regroup over the last few weeks, and they should be feeling fairly confident heading into this match. Their home form doesn’t look overly impressive on paper, but their two recent defeats came against Porto and Benfica and they have won two, drawn two and lost none of their four hostings of teams outside that traditional Portuguese Big Three.

Portimonense’s struggles to win send them into relegation battle

Portimonense are a team on the brink of a full blown relegation battle too. Their 1-1 draw with Rio Ave last month leaves them a point above the drop zone, and they have won just two of their 14 Primeira Liga matches this season.

The visitors’ last 12 league outings have seen them win just once, and away from home they haven’t won since the middle of August. Three defeats and three draws have followed since then, and they have lost two of their three away games against teams in the top half of the table.

Hard-to-beat Boavista ready to find their feet again

We can see Boavista getting back to winning ways on Saturday, and given Portimonense’s continued struggles to win matches we certainly don’t see the visitors claiming all the points. For this reason, a Boavista Draw No Bet looks the best value on offer.

Portimonense’s main issue this season has been scoring goals, as made evident by their record of two goals and four failures to score in their last six away games. Boavista, meanwhile, have kept a clean sheet in two of their last four at home but themselves only manage an average of one goal per game. This all points towards a 1-0 correct score prediction being the most appealing option.
