Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt Predictions
- Dortmund have won six of their last 10 home league games, scoring 21 goals in the process
- Frankfurt have lost three of their last seven away league games and conceded two or more goals five times
- Julian Brandt has six goals and nine assists in the Bundesliga this season and has either scored or assisted in his last three games against Eintracht Frankfurt
Dortmund have the edge in Sunday’s clash
Borussia Dortmund should edge past Eintracht Frankfurt in Sunday’s battle of European-chasing Bundesliga clubs on similar upward trajectories.
After a run of three games without a victory, Dortmund have found some momentum again with a three-game winning sequence. Likewise, Frankfurt have won back-to-back games after a six-game lean spell, so it is easy to think these teams are well matched.
Edin Terzic’s side have been doing something that Frankfurt have found very hard to achieve – keep clean sheets. Dortmund picked up their fourth in eight games when they beat PSV Eindhoven 2-0 in this week’s decisive Champions League last 16 clash.
Frankfurt can score but beware in-form Brandt
But they were not in full control of the clash and were fortunate that the Dutch outfit, who rained in 17 shots on goal, were not clinical with their finishing. Frankfurt may decided that attack is the best form of defence in this matchup, which has yielded a lot of goals in recent years.
Julian Brandt salvaged a point for Dortmund in Frankfurt earlier this season when the teams shared six goals and there have been at least three strikes registered in each of the last six meetings. Brandt, who has eight goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season, could be worth backing in anytime goalscorer betting after grabbing two goals and an assist in his last three games against Eintracht.
But, although the visitors are regaining their confidence after a flat spot in their campaign, this looks like being another away defeat for Dino Toppmoller’s men. They have lost three of their last seven Bundesliga road games and conceded two or more in five of them.
